Charles Shabsels is a practicing New York Attorney with offices at 501 Fifth Avenue, Suite 506, New York, New York. He has practiced law since 1971.
Mr. Shabsels is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, which he attended both as an undergraduate and for his J.D. in Law, Class of ‘70. During his senior year, Mr. Shabsels was a Senior Member of the University of Buffalo Law Review. In 1977, he earned an LLM (in Taxation) from New York University.
During the last thirty five plus years, he has specialized in the areas of Pension Law and Estate Planning, with emphasis on small businesses and owners of small businesses. He is familiar with the adoption, qualification, administration and termination of Pension Plans and Pension Assets. He has participated in detailed audits instituted by the Internal Revenue Service and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. The Law Office of Charles Shabsels provides continuing consulting services for Pension and Profit Sharing Plans of their clients, including preparation of Annual Returns for the Plans, providing advice and consultation, actuarial services, loan documents, distribution documents etc. It also prepares Forms 1099 and Forms 945 on behalf of its clients.
With reference to Estate Planning concepts, Mr. Shabsels has drafted numerous Wills and Trusts, including Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts and Qualified Personal Residence Trusts on behalf of his clients. He acts as attorney for many Estates and Trusts, and his clients have seen fit to name him as Executor and Trustee under many Wills and Trusts for the safeguarding and proper investment of the funds which are left to family members and to charities.
